Not every real estate agent is a REALTOR®. That’s a trademarked title, reserved for members of the National Association of REALTORS who agree to a written Code of Ethics. It’s worth understanding the difference before you hire someone to handle a home purchase or sale in Cottonwood Shores. Waterfront and near-water transactions carry disclosure obligations most inland sales don’t: dock permitting history, easements, and whether a lot actually has deeded lake access or just proximity to it. A REALTOR bound by the Code of Ethics has a professional duty to surface that information rather than let a buyer find out after closing. The same goes for deed restrictions, which vary block to block in a town this size: some sections like Castle Terrace carry their own covenants, while other areas have essentially none.
