Castle Hills is one of the older residential sections of Granite Shoals, built around Castlehills Drive and Castleshoals Drive on the west side of town. Like nearly all of Granite Shoals, it started out as part of Sherwood Shores, a massive tract platted in 1962 from the Phillips, Naumann, and Ebeling ranches that was, at the time, the largest platted subdivision in Texas. When Granite Shoals incorporated in 1966, Castle Hills became one of its residential sections rather than a separately gated development, and it’s still identified that way in MLS records today.

What’s Actually There
Lots in Castle Hills run small, many around a tenth of an acre, which is typical for this part of Granite Shoals and keeps homes closer together than the acreage lots you’ll find farther from the lake. The mix is mostly single-family homes, ranging from smaller two-bedroom, one-bath houses to larger three-bedroom homes, alongside vacant lots that still change hands. We found no evidence of an active homeowners association governing Castle Hills specifically, so buyers should confirm current deed restrictions directly with the title company rather than assume HOA rules apply.
Parks and Lake Access
Granite Shoals maintains eight public boat ramps across its park system. One of them, Castle Shoals Park at 503 N. Shorewood Drive, carries a name that mirrors Castle Hills’ own streets. The city charges non-residents a posted launch fee, payable by QR code at the ramp; residents typically don’t pay. Quarry Park, the city’s 131-acre hub with walking trails, sport courts, and a wildlife viewing station, is also a short drive from Castle Hills.
